SUNDAY 4th JULY. Cosford annual re union and Parade.
This date does not conflict with Armed Forces Day which leaves our members and Branches free to attend any other AFD activities if they wish on the previous weekend. Calling all ex RAF "erks" . NOTICE FOR ALL EX RAF PERSONNEL. 1939 to the 60s. There will be a re union parade taking place at the RAF Museum at Cosford, Shropshire on Sunday 4th July 2010 organised by the National Service (RAF) Association, with the support of the RAF Museum and DCAE Cosford. All ex RAF Personnel (including ex WAAF and ex WRAF)are invited to come along for the day. (NOTE: entry to the museum and all parking is free). Try and arrive by 09.30 am. Displays start at 10.00 hrs. A parade and march past, with an RAF Band (yet to be allocated) will take place at 11.00hrs - under the tender care of ex 1950s Drill Instructors - true ! - and it will give you the opportunity to once more march and salute the Ensign under which we once all served. Reviewing Officer:(yet to be finalised). Join us, with your families, for a FREE memorable day of nostalgia and all things Royal Air Force, including input from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at approx 13.00 hrs, (subject to subject to weather / mechanical conditions). For the first time: The Royal Air Force display Team will also be on site, using the National Cold War Exhibition Hangar as a base for their activities. The NEW National Cold War Exibition will also be open at the Museum. In Hangar 1 (our base) there will be 30 plus RAF related Stands to date. Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd August. Multi-period living Military history event. Staffordshire County Council are putting on this event to show the Military history of Cannock Chase, on the site of No 11 School of Recruit Training: RAF Hednesford.
Daily times: 10.00 - 16.00 at the Cannock Chase visitor centre, Marquis Drive, Hednesford. Static and small scale arena displays including: English civil war, Lace wars, 1870's, Great war, Second world war, National Service, Cold war, Modern forces. The NS(RAF)A 2010 AGM will be held on Friday 22.10.2010 at: 17.00 hrs. At the Tillington Hall Hotel, Eccleshall Road Stafford . ST16 1JJ. (Jct 14 M6) All matters for the AGM Agenda, including nominations for Committee Posts, should be submitted in writing to the Hon Secretary: Mr Honey by October 1st. (Address in front of ASTRAL) All members living in the locality (but not opting for residency) are invited to attend the AGM and stay for the evening.
